This fully remote Patient Account Representative role is based out of Frisco, TX and sits within a national healthcare revenue cycle operation serving more than 135 local regions across the country. The position owns the full life of a patient account — from claim submission through insurance collections and dispute resolution — across Commercial, Managed Care, Medicare, and Medicaid lines. Practice Highlights
- Fully remote position operating within a large-scale revenue cycle services environment
- Responsible for end-to-end account resolution: claim submission, remittance review, insurance follow-up, dispute creation and pursuit, and secondary/corrected billing
- Works accounts across Commercial, Managed Care, Medicare, and Medicaid payer types, including HMO, PPO, IPA, and Capitation structures
- Utilizes proprietary patient accounting systems including ACE, VI Web, IMaCS, and OnDemand, as well as payer web portals
- Reviews Explanation of Benefits (EOB), UB-04 hospital billing forms, and HCFA 1500 forms to identify billing and coding discrepancies and initiate corrective action
- Monitors A/R aging trends, identifies payer behavior patterns, and escalates problem accounts to supervisors in a timely manner
- Maintains daily productivity and quality standards set by department leadership while managing a personal desk inventory without backlog
- Collaborates cross-functionally with management, team members, patients, physicians, attorneys, and insurance plans as needed
- Participates in ongoing training seminars and in-service education to maintain current knowledge of payer requirements and regulatory changes
- Ensures compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations governing Managed Care and third-party payers
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in business administration or accounting preferred
- 1–4 years of medical claims and/or hospital collections experience
- Thorough understanding of the full revenue cycle: patient access (authorization, admissions) through Patient Financial Services (billing, appeals, collections)
- Intermediate knowledge of Managed Care contracts, contract language, and federal and state requirements for government payers
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); minimum typing speed of 45 wpm
- Intermediate understanding of EOB, UB-04 billing form requirements, and familiarity with HCFA 1500 forms
- Ability to learn and navigate hospital systems — ACE, VI Web, IMaCS, OnDemand — quickly and fluently
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and follow through independently
