John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio, California is recruiting a full-time Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) for its Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. This is a hands-on procedural role supporting the full spectrum of diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular cases — including PTCA, stenting, IABP, thrombolysis, coils, and peripheral interventions — within the Desert Care Network, a three-hospital system serving the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin. Practice Highlights

  • Four-day workweek, day shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • STEMI call coverage required as part of the role
  • CVT rotates through three core lab roles: Scrub, Circulator, and Monitor — providing broad procedural engagement and skill development
  • Scrub role: surgical prep and draping, physician assistance with equipment operation and device preparation including needles, wires, catheters, and medications
  • Circulator role: intraoperative equipment support, patient monitoring, aseptic technique adherence
  • Monitor role: vital sign monitoring, intra-cardiac and arterial pressure and waveform recording, procedure documentation, medical record creation, and interdepartmental communications
  • Procedural scope includes PTCA, coronary stenting, IABP placement and operation, thrombolysis, coil procedures, and peripheral vascular interventions
  • CVT is responsible for cardiac arrhythmia recognition and emergency protocol response, including operation of external cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators
  • Part of the Desert Care Network — a three-hospital system including Desert Regional Medical Center (Palm Springs), JFK Memorial Hospital (Indio), and Hi-Desert Medical Center (Joshua Tree)
  • Network services include comprehensive stroke care, a cancer center, a Level 1 Trauma Center, and the only Level 3 NICU in the Coachella Valley

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology or a Cardiovascular Technologist Certificate from an accredited program; candidates eligible for the RCIS exam (administered by CCI) are considered, with certification required within one year of hire
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within six months of hire
  • Current California ARRT licensure with California Fluoroscopy Certification preferred
  • Demonstrated competency with basic and complex invasive cardiovascular procedures including PTCA, stenting, IABP, thrombolysis, coil procedures, and peripheral interventions
  • Ability to recognize cardiac arrhythmias and respond per emergency protocols; proficiency with external pacemakers and defibrillators required
