Practice Highlights
- Bedside screening of self-pay patients for eligibility across governmental programs (Federal, State, County) and non-governmental programs
- Identification and routing of all potential payor sources including auto insurance, Workers' Compensation, commercial insurance, private insurance, and third-party liability (TPL)
- Completion of Confidential Financial Statement forms and hands-on assistance guiding patients through benefits application processes
- Conducts structured interviews with patients and family members; maintains complete account documentation throughout the in-house and Patient Accounting cycle
- Performs financial clearance functions including collections; prepares accounts for Financial Assistance review when appropriate
- Follows up on EES-assigned accounts to confirm government program applications are processed to completion
- Conducts field visits to patient homes for skip tracing and document assistance
- Communicates case screening determinations and outcomes to hospital case management, social services, and admissions staff via verbal and written channels
- Works across both hospital floor and office environments, including Emergency Department settings and broad campus navigation
- Some travel required (field visits and potential multi-facility support)
- Interfaces with multiple facilities, supervisors, and hospital platforms simultaneously — strong multitasking environment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in social services, hospital admitting, or a directly related field
- Working familiarity with Federal, State, and County program rules and regulations governing patient financial assistance
- Proficiency in PC systems including Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; bilingual Spanish strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize competing tasks, and manage multiple accounts with efficiency
- Detail-oriented with experience navigating multi-facility or multi-platform environments
- Physical ability to walk through hospital and campus environments, visit patients at bedside, and sit at a computer terminal for extended periods
- Must be able to provide confirmation of all required vaccinations and screenings prior to start of employment, including COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations as applicable and permitted by law
