Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a CNA course required (previous patient care work experience may satisfy the education requirement)
  • CNA certification required within 6 months of employment; alternatively, completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited nursing curriculum with intent to complete a nursing degree is accepted
  • American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification required — must be obtained within 7 days of hire
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification required — must be completed during orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to perform vital signs, blood glucose checks, intake and output monitoring, and patient interventions within CNA scope of practice
  • Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations including codes and patient falls
