Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a CNA course required (previous patient care work experience may satisfy the education requirement)
CNA certification required within 6 months of employment; alternatively, completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited nursing curriculum with intent to complete a nursing degree is accepted
American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification required — must be obtained within 7 days of hire
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification required — must be completed during orientation
Demonstrated ability to perform vital signs, blood glucose checks, intake and output monitoring, and patient interventions within CNA scope of practice
Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations including codes and patient falls
