Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Active Texas State Registered Nurse license required at time of hire
- No prior experience required; two or more years in acute care preferred, with particular value placed on med-surg, telemetry, or ICU backgrounds
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association required at hire; AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire
- AHA ACLS required within 60 days for nurses transferring into or hired into Adult Critical Care, Telemetry, or Interim Critical Care units; completion before end of orientation is strongly encouraged
- AHA PALS required within 60 days for nurses in the Pediatric ICU; AHA NRP required within 60 days for NICU nurses
- S.T.A.B.L.E. certification for NICU/Level 2 Nursery nurses must be completed within six months of hire or transfer (proof of prior completion accepted; renewal not required)
