A large acute care hospital network in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Registered Nurse II to join its Cardiac Rehabilitation program. This role centers on direct patient evaluation, individualized exercise prescription, and supervised cardiac rehab delivery within a structured, multidisciplinary clinical environment. Practice Highlights
- Evaluates cardiac patients and designs, plans, and implements individualized cardiac rehabilitation programs aligned with AACVPR regulatory guidelines and best practices
- Performs and monitors EKG interpretation, blood pressure, heart rate, and pulse oximetry throughout supervised exercise sessions
- Operates and monitors fitness equipment as part of structured cardiac rehab protocols
- Administers appropriate treatments and responds to patient needs throughout the rehabilitation continuum
- Collaborates directly with nurses, physicians, patients, families, and hospital personnel to maintain strong departmental communication and care coordination
- Provides instruction and supervision to student interns and volunteers, with input into performance appraisals
- Maintains timely and accurate medical records in compliance with departmental and regulatory standards
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities and contributes to department quality initiatives
- Part of a broad system that includes acute care hospitals, specialty hospitals, primary and specialty care clinics, diagnostic imaging centers, micro-hospitals, and off-campus emergency departments
Qualifications
- Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Minimum: Completion of a 12-week internship in cardiac rehabilitation
- Preferred: 1–2 years of experience with exercise prescription in a clinical setting
- Preferred certification: American College of Sports Medicine – Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP)
- Active Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire (ARC or AHA); AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into the role
- Active Texas RN license or eligibility to obtain
