This role centers on direct patient evaluation, individualized exercise prescription, and supervised cardiac rehab delivery within a structured, multidisciplinary clinical environment. <h3>Practice Highlights</h3> <ul> <li>Evaluates cardiac patients and designs, plans, and implements individualized cardiac rehabilitation programs aligned with AACVPR regulatory guidelines and best practices</li> <li>Performs and monitors EKG interpretation, blood pressure, heart rate, and pulse oximetry throughout supervised exercise sessions</li> <li>Operates and monitors fitness equipment as part of structured cardiac rehab protocols</li> <li>Administers appropriate treatments and responds to patient needs throughout the rehabilitation continuum</li> <li>Collaborates directly with nurses, physicians, patients, families, and hospital personnel to maintain strong departmental communication and care coordination</li> <li>Provides instruction and supervision to student interns and volunteers, with input into performance appraisals</li> <li>Maintains timely and accurate medical records in compliance with departmental and regulatory standards</li> <li>Participates in Performance Improvement activities and contributes to department quality initiatives</li> <li>Part of a broad system that includes acute care hospitals, specialty hospitals, primary and specialty care clinics, diagnostic imaging centers, micro-hospitals, and off-campus emergency departments</li> </ul>
<h3>Qualifications</h3> <ul> <li>Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology or a related field from an accredited college or university</li> <li>Minimum: Completion of a 12-week internship in cardiac rehabilitation</li> <li>Preferred: 1–2 years of experience with exercise prescription in a clinical setting</li> <li>Preferred certification: American College of Sports Medicine – Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP)</li> <li>Active Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire (ARC or AHA); AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire</li> <li>AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into the role</li> <li>Active Texas RN license or eligibility to obtain</li> </ul>
