Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California is seeking a full-time Residency Program Coordinator to support multiple Graduate Medical Education programs — including Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, and Neurosurgery — at a Level 1 Trauma Center within a three-hospital regional network. This is a high-impact administrative leadership role embedded in a growing GME infrastructure that is actively transitioning from AOA to ACGME accreditation. The coordinator works directly alongside physician program directors and the GME office to manage every operational dimension of the residency programs, from recruitment through graduation. Practice Highlights
- Supports multiple residency programs simultaneously: Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, and Neurosurgery
- Programs are in active growth phase — inaugural class matriculated July 2015; transitioning from AOA to ACGME accreditation
- Manages the full Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) cycle: candidate screening, interview day coordination, faculty scheduling, and rank list submission
- Administers all evaluation workflows in New Innovations, including resident evaluations of faculty and rotations, faculty evaluations of residents, semi-annual reviews, CCC and PEC committee documentation, and final written evaluations
- Coordinates resident didactic schedules — securing space, arranging speakers, ordering food, and documenting attendance
- Manages credentialing packets for off-site rotations and arranges elective rotation placements
- Prepares duty hour, evaluation, and procedure compliance reports for both AOA and ACGME standards
- Attends monthly GMEC meetings and documents minutes; attends monthly Residency Coordinator meetings with GME Manager and peer coordinators across the network
- Maintains alumni files, verifies training for medical specialty boards, and updates residency program website and online program listings
- Builds and maintains rotation schedules in New Innovations and runs gap reports to monitor compliance
- Part of the Desert Care Network — a three-hospital system serving the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin, with a Level 1 Trauma Center, comprehensive stroke program, cancer center, and the only Level 3 NICU in the Coachella Valley
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant administrative or healthcare operations work experience required
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and both verbal and written communication ability
- Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration; a combination of relevant experience and education will be considered
- Prior experience working within a medical residency program is highly desirable
- Experience with New Innovations or a comparable residency management system is highly desirable
- Familiarity with AOA and/or ACGME accreditation standards and compliance processes is a strong asset
