Practice Highlights

- Medical necessity verification in accordance with CMS standards; inpatient visit notification to payors
- Patient financial liability education and compliant point-of-service, pre-service, and post-service collections; hospital cash reconciliation and secured payment entry
- Scanning and management of Protected Health Information (PHI); creation and filing of patient information packets
- Assistance with scheduling diagnostic procedures and coordinating post-discharge care as needed
- Cross-functional collaboration with clinical staff, physician offices, and external payer contacts in a fast-paced hospital administration environment
- Potential exposure to life-threatening patient conditions consistent with an active emergency department setting
Qualifications
- Spanish-English bilingualism required
- High School Diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred
- 0–1 year of customer service experience; 0–1 year of administrative experience in a medical facility, health insurance, or related field preferred
- Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute; demonstrated proficiency with PC, CRT, and printer
- Ability to interpret physician orders, medical terminology, and insurance cards accurately
- Must be qualified to work in at least two Patient Access service areas, including the Emergency Department
- Understanding of third-party payer requirements and compliance standards preferred
- Must meet all required pre-employment vaccination and screening requirements, including COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations as applicable
- Physical requirements include extended periods at a computer terminal, frequent standing, sitting, and walking, occasional lifting up to 25 lbs, and occasional wheelchair assistance for patients
