Practice Highlights
- Part-time, night-shift position delivering direct respiratory care across a full-service acute care hospital
- Full scope of cardiopulmonary diagnostic testing performed according to department policy under Medical Director and Department Director oversight
- Active emergency response role — RT responds to emergency situations throughout the facility
- Medication administration and respiratory treatments delivered in accordance with established clinical protocols
- Quality control responsibilities include all respiratory care equipment and I-STAT blood gas analyzers
- Electronic documentation of all services rendered with written and verbal handoff reporting to oncoming staff
- Participation in Performance Improvement activities at the department level
- System-wide resources include a specialized children's hospital, dedicated pediatric emergency unit, comprehensive cancer care network, and imaging centers — supporting complex, multi-acuity patient populations
- Potential coverage assignments in pediatric and NICU units (certification requirements apply)
Qualifications
- Graduate of an AMA-accredited Respiratory Care Program required
- Current Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) state license required
- Current CRT or RRT certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required; renewal every five years (unless grandfathered prior to July 1, 2002)
- Active Healthcare Provider BLS certification (ARC or AHA) required at hire; AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire
- AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role
- AHA PALS required within 60 days of hire or transfer if covering pediatric patients
- AHA NRP required within 60 days of hire or transfer if covering NICU
- Prior hospital respiratory care experience preferred; new graduates from accredited programs are considered
