Practice Highlights

  • Fixed schedule: Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (12-hour shifts, three days per week)
  • Deployment across a minimum of two Patient Access service areas, including the Emergency Department
  • Full patient registration at date of service: demographic collection, legal form execution (Advance Directives, Conditions of Service, Consent for Treatment, Important Message from Medicare, EMTALA), and PHI scanning
  • Insurance verification, benefits and eligibility confirmation, and authorization procurement for both scheduled and unscheduled hospital services
  • Medical necessity checks and verification in accordance with CMS requirements
  • Inpatient visit notification to payors and coordination of post-discharge care as needed
  • Patient liability collection before, during, and after date of service using compliant negotiation techniques; hospital cash reconciliation and secured payment entry
  • Scheduling support for diagnostic procedures, including data entry, appointment instruction delivery, and related tasks
  • High-volume, fast-paced hospital administration environment with direct patient and physician office interaction
  • Collaborative work model requiring strong relationships with both internal departments and external clients/payors

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred
  • 0–1 year of customer service experience required
  • 0–1 year of administrative experience in a medical facility, health insurance, or related setting preferred
  • Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PC, CRT terminal, and printer
  • Ability to interpret physician orders, medical terminology, and insurance cards accurately
  • Working knowledge of Third Party Payor requirements and healthcare compliance standards preferred
  • Ability to perform essential duties across at least two Patient Access service areas, including the Emergency Department
  • Physical ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods, stand and walk frequently, lift or carry items up to 25 lbs occasionally, and assist patients with wheelchair mobility as needed
  • Availability to work hours and days as required based on departmental and system demands
