Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California is recruiting a full-time RN Clinical Manager for its Ortho Spine / Medical-Surgical unit, working nights. This is a hands-on leadership role at the flagship hospital of a three-facility regional network that includes a Level 1 Trauma Center, a comprehensive stroke program, a cancer center, and the only Level 3 NICU in the Coachella Valley. The right candidate brings clinical depth in Med-Surg and orthopedic surgery care alongside the operational acumen to run a unit-level team with accountability for staffing, budgets, performance improvement, and patient outcomes.

Practice Highlights

  • Night-shift Clinical Manager role with day-to-day operational ownership of the Ortho Spine / Med-Surg department
  • Patient population spans Medical-Surgical acuity with a focused orthopedic surgery and spine protocol component
  • Full human resources accountability at the unit level: hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance evaluations, counseling, and payroll review
  • Staffing optimization using individual patient classification and acuity-based benchmarking data to manage labor hour targets
  • Active role in performance improvement integration into daily operations, unit-based quality data collection, and trend analysis
  • Participates in nursing leadership meetings with shared accountability for the integrity of nursing administration
  • Supports hospital-wide programs including risk management, safety, infection control, and patient satisfaction through committee and project team membership
  • Collaborates with the Director on department strategic planning — both short- and long-term goal development
  • Part of Desert Care Network, a three-hospital system serving the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin with advanced service lines: Level 1 Trauma, comprehensive stroke, oncology, and Level 3 NICU

Qualifications

  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license — required
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or higher — required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or advanced degree preferred
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification — required and must be maintained continuously
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS certification — required and must be maintained continuously
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience with demonstrated clinical competence
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to present in a positive, professional manner
  • Previous nursing management experience — preferred
