Practice Highlights
- Full-time day shift: 0700–1930, six shifts per two-week pay period; some weekend rotation required
- Functions under RN direction to gather assessment and reassessment data on emergency department patients and deliver nursing interventions appropriate to acuity
- Practices independently within LVN scope of practice, applying critical thinking skills across the full spectrum of ED presentations
- Serves as a mentor and resource for emergency department technicians
- Monitors patients for changes in condition and intervenes in a timely, clinically appropriate manner
- Participates in departmental Performance Improvement activities and monitoring
- Part of Desert Care Network — a three-hospital system (Desert Regional Medical Center, JFK Memorial Hospital, Hi-Desert Medical Center) covering the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin
- Network services include a Level 1 Trauma Center, comprehensive stroke program, cancer center, and the region's only Level 3 NICU
Qualifications
- Active California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license required
- BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required
- IV Certification required
- Acute care hospital experience preferred; Emergency Department or Critical Care background strongly preferred
- Basic computer skills required
- Basic EKG course required within 3 months of hire
- PALS certification required within 3 months of hire
- ACLS certification required within 3 months of hire
- AB508 Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Course required within 6 months of hire
- Annual requirements: Annual Update, TB Screening, and Ethics training
