Abrazo Arrowhead Campus, a 217-bed acute care hospital in Glendale, Arizona, is recruiting a Lab Assistant II to join its clinical laboratory team. Practice Highlights

  • 217-bed acute care hospital with established service lines in cardiovascular care, orthopedics, obstetrics, and emergency medicine
  • Performs venipuncture and phlebotomy across inpatient and outpatient populations
  • Specimen receipt, registration, distribution, and billing functions integral to daily workflow
  • Conducts CLIA-waived laboratory testing as requested
  • Assists with microbiology specimen processing and plating
  • Operates basic laboratory equipment, computers, and medical/laboratory information systems

Qualifications

  • Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in a laboratory or medical-related field from an accredited institution preferred
  • Minimum experience: 1 year of laboratory experience and/or completion of a formal phlebotomy training program
  • Phlebotomy certification required where mandated by Arizona state law; national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT, or equivalent preferred
  • Basic laboratory computer and laboratory information system (LIS) experience preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in specimen handling, pre-analytical variable awareness, medical terminology, and laboratory measurements
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills suited to a high-volume, multi-priority clinical laboratory
