Practice Highlights
- Multi-site ophthalmology practice requiring travel between clinic locations to support staffing needs
- Full diagnostic workup responsibilities: distance and near acuity testing, confrontation visual fields, stereo and color testing, refractometry, and lensometry on single, bifocal, and progressive lenses including transposition
- Advanced diagnostic equipment in use: Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer, Keratometry/Auto-Refractor Keratometer (ARK), IOL Master, Pachymetry, Topography, and slit lamp for angle assessment and pupil evaluation
- Clinical support duties include assisting physicians and optometrists with procedures, administering eye drops and oral medications, and inserting and removing contact lenses
- Patient triage based on appointment time and acuity, with responsibility for maintaining smooth and efficient clinic flow throughout the exam area
- Patient education responsibilities before and after procedures, including delivery of written instructions in accessible language
- Accurate and thorough medical records documentation, including history intake and chart organization with full patient identification on all pages
- ASC duties may include provider assistance and operation of lasers or related equipment, depending on assignment
- Working knowledge of ophthalmic medications expected, including drug name, strength, dosage, and clinical indication
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Six months to one year of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency with a computer and lensometer required
- Ability to perform the following independently and without supervision: Keratometry (ARK), IOL Master, Pachymetry, Topography, slit lamp angle assessment, and careful pupil measurement and identification of pupil abnormalities
- Ability to perform Humphrey Visual Field testing and refractometry with minimal assistance
- Willingness and ability to travel between clinic locations as needed
