Practice Highlights
- Overnight shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM; availability required based on departmental and system demands, including on-call as needed
- Direct supervisory responsibility over Patient Access Representatives at levels PA I through PA IV
- Supervisory scope includes interviewing, hiring, onboarding, performance appraisal, disciplinary action, complaint resolution, and daily work direction
- Operational coverage spans Admitting, Centralized Scheduling, Emergency Department registration, and on- and off-site clinic access points
- Responsible for daily monitoring of activity and completion of performance and metric reports, including financial clearance reports
- Participates in short- and long-range planning for all Registration Process areas
- Manages escalated patient access and registration issues in real time; maintains and enforces departmental policies, procedures, and work rules
- Assists in developing and implementing new policies in alignment with hospital and corporate guidelines
- Performs all Patient Access functions hands-on as operational needs require
- Functions as an active member of the management team, accountable to overall operational goals and revenue cycle performance targets
- Hospital work environment; primarily seated/desk-based role
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; 2- or 4-year college degree in Business, Accounting, Medical Administration, or a related field strongly preferred
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a medical facility, health insurance, or closely related environment required
- 5 or more years of Patient Access experience preferred
- 2 or more years in a supervisory or lead role preferred
- Thorough knowledge of healthcare information systems and computer platforms required
- Clear working knowledge of Revenue Cycle Management principles and applicable regulatory agency requirements
- Demonstrated leadership ability with strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills
