Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • No prior experience required; two years of acute care experience in med/surg, telemetry, or ICU is preferred
  • Active Texas State Registered Nurse license required at time of hire
  • Active Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required on hire (American Red Cross or AHA); AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into the Telemetry role, and should be completed before the end of the orientation period
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 60 days for PICU roles; AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 60 days for NICU roles; S.T.A.B.L.E. certification required within 6 months for NICU/Level 2 Nursery roles (unit-specific requirements)
