Practice Highlights

  • Supervisory scope spans all Patient Access registration areas: Admitting, Centralized Scheduling, Emergency Department, and on- and off-site clinic locations
  • Direct reports include Patient Access Representatives at levels I through IV
  • Full supervisory authority: interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisal, disciplinary action, complaint resolution, and work direction
  • Responsible for daily monitoring of operational activity and generation of performance and metric reports, including financial clearance reports
  • Participates as a member of the management team to ensure all operational goals are met across the Patient Access function
  • Assists in short- and long-range planning recommendations for all registration process areas
  • Enforces departmental policies and procedures in alignment with hospital and corporate guidelines; contributes to development and implementation of new policies
  • Performs all Patient Access functions hands-on as needed — this is a working supervisor role
  • Manages escalated patient and staff issues, maintaining positive customer service standards at all times
  • Special projects and ad hoc reporting assigned as operational needs dictate
  • Schedule flexibility required based on departmental and system demands, including on-call availability

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 2- or 4-year college degree in Business, Accounting, Medical Administration, or a related field strongly preferred
  • 4 or more years of experience in a medical facility, health insurance, or closely related environment required
  • 5 or more years of Patient Access experience preferred
  • 2 or more years in a supervisory or lead role preferred
  • Clear working knowledge of Revenue Cycle Management principles and applicable regulatory agency requirements
  • Proficiency with healthcare information systems and computer-based workflows
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills; demonstrated leadership ability
