Practice Highlights
- Shift-based clinical supervision of a Medical-Surgical unit within a full-service acute care hospital
- Serves as unit patient flow coordinator — managing admissions, discharges, and transfers in real time
- Coordinates next-shift staffing in collaboration with the Director, Clinical Manager, Coordinator, and/or House Officer
- Functions as a clinical resource and leadership role model for bedside nursing staff throughout the shift
- Provides supervisory input into staff performance evaluations and reviews
- Part of the departmental leadership team with direct accountability for shift-level patient care coordination and assignment
- System affiliation includes six full-service hospitals, a specialized children's hospital with a dedicated pediatric emergency unit, a comprehensive cancer care network, imaging centers, fitness and rehabilitation centers, ambulatory services, and a physician network
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing (or advanced degree in a related field) preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an equivalent unit required; 4 years preferred
- Active Texas State Registered Nurse license required
- National Specialty Certification preferred
- Active AHA or ARC Healthcare Provider BLS required at hire; AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire
- ACLS, TNCC, PALS, NRP, S.T.A.B.L.E., Fetal Monitoring, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certifications required depending on department assignment — grace periods apply per applicable Staff RN job description
