John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio, California is recruiting a full-time Emergency Department Technician II to join its emergency department team within the Desert Care Network — a three-hospital system serving the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin regions of Southern California. This role carries genuine leadership responsibility: the ED Tech II owns 24-hour scheduling coverage for ED Technicians, mentors new hires, and supervises the ED Certified Nurse Assistant, all while delivering hands-on clinical support at the bedside under licensed nurse supervision.

Practice Highlights

  • Full-time, rotating shift schedule providing 24-hour emergency department coverage
  • Hands-on clinical scope includes: EKGs, vital signs and weights, wound care, splint application, specimen collection, CPR, and procedural/suturing assistance for physicians
  • Patient transport responsibilities via wheelchair and gurney with a focus on patient safety and family comfort
  • Leadership role: responsible for building and maintaining the ED Technician schedule to ensure appropriate 24-hour staffing coverage
  • Supervisory responsibility over the ED Certified Nurse Assistant

Qualifications

  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification (must be maintained at all times)
  • Current EMT or EMT-Paramedic (EMT-P) certificate (must be maintained at all times)
  • Minimum two years of Emergency Technician experience preferred
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred, reflecting the bilingual patient population of the Coachella Valley
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to maintain positive working relationships across all levels of staff, patients, and families
