The Hospitals of Providence – East Campus in El Paso, Texas is recruiting a per diem Lab Assistant II to support a hospital system with more than 120 years of community service across five campuses. This weekend-rotating, per diem role is well suited to a phlebotomy-trained professional who wants flexible scheduling alongside meaningful hands-on laboratory work. The position spans specimen collection, registration, CLIA-waived testing, and microbiology support within a trusted regional health system.

Practice Highlights

  • Per diem engagement with a rotating weekend schedule
  • Performs venipuncture and phlebotomy duties across inpatient and outpatient specimen collection
  • Responsible for specimen receipt, registration, billing, and distribution within the laboratory
  • Performs CLIA-waived laboratory testing as requested
  • Assists with microbiology specimen processing and plating
  • Executes routine technical and clerical laboratory functions including lab information system data entry

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a formal phlebotomy training program preferred
  • Minimum one year of laboratory experience and/or completion of a formal phlebotomy training program required
  • Basic laboratory computer or lab information system experience preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification required where mandated by state law
  • National phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT, or a comparable credentialing body preferred
