Practice Highlights

  • Assigned to the Medical-Surgical unit; provides basic nursing care to an assigned patient group under direct RN supervision
  • General nursing units serve patients age 15 through adult; special care areas manage high-risk adult and adolescent conditions
  • Maternal-child services include Labor and Delivery (pregnancy-related conditions), Nursery (newborn through discharge), and Pediatrics (neonate through age 18)
  • GI Lab covers toddlers (24 months and up) through adult patients
  • Chemical Dependency and Psychiatric units deliver holistic, family-centered care for adult behavioral health patients
  • Emergency unit provides care to all ages, including pediatric and high-risk adult presentations
  • Surgical Services spans neonate through geriatric patient populations
  • System includes six full-service hospitals, a specialized children's hospital with a dedicated pediatric emergency unit, a comprehensive cancer care network, imaging centers, fitness and rehabilitation centers, ambulatory services, and the Baptist School of Health Professions
  • Introductory competency period with established competency completion requirements for the position

Qualifications

  • Minimum education: High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Preferred education: Satisfactory completion of a Nurse Assistant, EMT, Paramedic, or Medical Assisting course
  • Preferred experience: 6 months in a healthcare setting and/or working knowledge of basic medical terminology and procedures
  • Required certifications: BLS obtained through an American Heart Association–approved Training Center or Military Training Network; Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification required within 60 days of hire or transfer
