Practice Highlights
- Medical-surgical inpatient unit at Hi-Desert Medical Center, Yucca Valley, CA
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, 12-hour shifts; some weekend and holiday coverage required
- Full nursing process applied across assessment, care planning, intervention, and discharge education for a medical-surgical patient population
- Cardiac monitoring responsibilities: recognition and appropriate response to dysrhythmias via bedside monitor and rhythm strips
- Supervision and coordination of ancillary staff including LVNs, CNAs, and Patient Care Technicians
- Part of Desert Care Network — a regional system of three hospitals (Hi-Desert Medical Center, Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio) serving the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin
- Network-level advanced services include a Level 1 Trauma Center, comprehensive stroke program, oncology services, and a Level 3 NICU

Qualifications
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Current CPR certification required at time of hire
- ACLS certification required within 90 days of hire
- Dysrhythmia interpretation course completion or demonstrated competency in dysrhythmia interpretation required by end of orientation
- Minimum one year of acute care nursing experience preferred
- Physical requirements include heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), prolonged standing and walking, and direct patient transfer and repositioning
