Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas is recruiting a full-time Pathology Assistant to support a high-functioning anatomic pathology laboratory within a major regional health system with more than 120 years of community presence. This is a days-only, full-time position embedded in a collaborative lab environment where you will work directly alongside Pathologists, Histology Technicians, and Histology Technologists. Practice Highlights

  • Full-time, day-shift schedule within the pathology (tissue) laboratory at Baptist Medical Center
  • Direct collaboration with Pathologists, Histology Technicians, and Histology Technologists on specimen management and histological staining workflows
  • Responsibilities include gross specimen handling, histology specimen management, and histological staining support
  • Slide and block filing, retrieval, and consult coordination as directed by the Pathologist
  • Oversight of equipment maintenance, supply inventory, and cleanliness of the pathology lab and tissue storage areas
  • Structured onboarding with a defined introductory training period to ensure competency in all position functions
  • System-wide resources include six full-service hospitals, a dedicated children's hospital with pediatric emergency unit, a comprehensive cancer care network, imaging centers, fitness and rehabilitation centers, and the Baptist School of Health Professions

Qualifications

  • Minimum education: High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Preferred education: Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent training
  • Minimum of six (6) months of pathology or clinical laboratory experience required
  • Ability to complete all position-specific training within the designated introductory period
