Practice Highlights
- 200-bed acute care hospital with advanced, high-acuity service lines including a Level I Trauma Center
- Specialty areas supported include ICU, PACU, obstetrics, orthopedics, and cardiovascular care
- Robotic surgery program utilizing the da Vinci Xi surgical platform; Loop-X intraoperative imaging system also on campus
- Full respiratory therapy scope: SVN, IPPB therapy, all oxygen therapy modalities, hemodynamic monitoring, and volume ventilator management
- Diagnostic testing responsibilities include complete pulmonary function testing (PFTs), simple spirometry, pulse oximetry, ABG machine maintenance, EKGs, and stress/treadmill testing
- Special procedures and electroencephalography (ENGs) performed as part of the role
- Patient population spans neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups
- Active role in discharge planning: coordinates home care setup and participates in multidisciplinary discharge planning meetings
- Senior-level position with responsibility for workflow coordination, staff scheduling adjustments, competency maintenance, and mentoring of therapists, students, and orientees
- Participates in departmental decision-making, staff meetings, and committee work
Qualifications
- Completion of a formal two-year respiratory therapy education program meeting requirements for both CRT certification and RRT registration
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- Active Arizona Registered Respiratory Therapist license required
- Minimum two years of respiratory therapy experience required
- Current CPR certification required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP required within 12 months of hire
- Preferred: acute care and ICU experience, hemodynamic monitoring, PFT, and cardiology background
- Preferred: demonstrated ability to precept staff, students, and orientees; readiness to assume a departmental leadership role
- Working knowledge of volume ventilators, patient hemodynamics, asepsis principles, and infection control practices; computer proficiency preferred
