<h3>Practice Highlights</h3> <ul> <li>Night shift schedule: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM with rotating weekend coverage</li> <li>Stationed in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital — exposure to the full spectrum of ED patient volume and acuity</li> <li>Performs complete patient registration at point of service, including demographic capture, insurance verification, benefits and eligibility confirmation, and authorization for both scheduled and unscheduled services</li> <li>Executes medical necessity checks and verifications in accordance with CMS requirements; secures inpatient visit notifications to payors</li> <li>Manages patient financial liability education and collection — before, during, and after date of service — using compliant negotiation techniques</li> <li>Completes hospital cash reconciliation and secured payment entry per financial and cash control policies</li> <li>Obtains and secures all required legal and consent documentation: Advance Directives, Conditions of Service, Consent for Treatment, Important Message from Medicare, and EMTALA forms</li> <li>Scans and files Protected Health Information; may assist with scheduling diagnostic procedures and coordinating post-discharge care</li> <li>Required to perform duties competently across at least two Patient Access service areas, including the Emergency Department</li> <li>Interprets physician orders, medical terminology, and insurance cards in accordance with established standards of care</li> </ul>
<h3>Qualifications</h3> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred</li> <li>0–1 year of customer service experience; 0–1 year of administrative experience in a medical facility, health insurance, or related field preferred</li> <li>Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute</li> <li>Demonstrated working knowledge of PC, CRT terminal, and printer operation</li> <li>Familiarity with hospital environment, third-party payor requirements, and compliance standards preferred</li> <li>Ability to interpret physician orders, medical terminology, and insurance documentation</li> <li>Must meet applicable vaccination and health screening requirements prior to start of employment, including COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations as required by law</li> <li>Must be available to work hours and days as needed based on departmental and system demands</li> </ul>
