The Hospitals of Providence – Trans Mountain Campus in El Paso, TX is recruiting a Per Diem Multi-Skilled Tech (MST) / Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU), working nights. Practice Highlights

  • Per Diem engagement on the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), night shift
  • Dual-role position: direct patient care (CNA-scope) combined with Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) administrative duties
  • Patient care responsibilities include assistance with activities of daily living — bathing, toileting, turning, and feeding support — performed under the direction and supervision of the charge registered nurse
  • Call bell response duties both at the nursing station and in patient rooms, maintaining a safe and clean care environment
  • HUC responsibilities include answering phones, entering physician orders, and providing general administrative support to the unit when not engaged in direct patient care
  • Proficiency with computer-driven patient care equipment and MS Windows-based applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) utilized in daily workflow
  • Part of a five-campus health system with over 120 years of community service in El Paso, including a dedicated children's hospital and full regional referral infrastructure

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of a Nursing Assistant Course preferred
  • Current BLS certification for healthcare providers required
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification required within 6 months of hire
  • Prior clerical or customer service experience required; prior HUC training or experience in a clinical setting strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated competencies in both Certified Nursing Assistant duties and HUC functions
  • Physical ability to assist with patient transfers to and from the unit
  • Proficiency in MS Windows-based applications; ability to operate computer-driven patient care equipment
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish preferred, reflecting the El Paso patient population
