Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas is recruiting a Clinical Pharmacist on a PRN rotating basis to join a full-service acute care system with more than 120 years of community health history. Practice Highlights

  • PRN rotating schedule serving inpatient and outpatient populations across the lifespan — neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
  • Full dispensing and clinical review responsibilities, including sterile compounding, chemotherapy preparation, and parenteral nutrition
  • Controlled substance dispensing to patient care areas with full record maintenance per DEA and Texas Department of Public Safety requirements
  • Pharmacokinetics consult service participation and drug dosing per Baptist Health System protocol
  • Antimicrobial stewardship role: reviews culture and susceptibility data, recommends antibiotic therapy adjustments
  • Formulary management including therapeutic substitution protocols, non-formulary minimization, and rational drug therapy promotion
  • Renal dosing adjustments for elderly and renally compromised patients; specialized pediatric and neonatal dosing and formulation expertise applied daily
  • Adverse drug reaction surveillance and medication occurrence reporting
  • Direct clinical consultation to physicians, nursing, and allied health staff; provides drug information to patients and families
  • Supervises and verifies daily activities of pharmacy technicians, interns, and residents
  • Participates in orientation, education, and training program development across pharmacy, medical, and nursing departments
  • Compliance with TJC, Texas State Board of Pharmacy, Texas Department of Health, OSHA, DEA, Texas Department of Public Safety, and EEOC/TEC standards
  • System footprint includes six full-service hospitals, a specialized children's hospital with dedicated pediatric emergency unit, a comprehensive cancer care network, imaging centers, fitness and rehabilitation centers, ambulatory services, and the Baptist School of Health Professions

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy (Pharm.D. or equivalent)
  • Current Texas State Board of Pharmacy license required
  • Hospital internship rotation required at minimum; prior hospital pharmacy experience strongly preferred
  • IV Admixture Certification preferred
  • Competency with sterile compounding, chemotherapy preparation, and parenteral nutrition products
  • Proficiency in pediatric and neonatal drug dosing principles and pharmacokinetics consultation
