Practice Highlights
- Full-time, rotating-shift schedule within an acute care clinical laboratory
- Supervisory authority over daily departmental operations, including staff scheduling, personnel selection, performance management, and disciplinary recommendations
- Responsible for maintaining accreditation compliance under CAP, TJC, AABB, or equivalent accrediting body
- Reviews quality control data and patient results to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Performs high-complexity laboratory testing consistent with CLIA regulations (42 CFR 493.1489 and 42 CFR 493.1491)
- Executes instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational upkeep of laboratory equipment
- Drives service level agreement adherence through implementation of operational efficiencies
- Reports directly to the laboratory director; completes additional duties as assigned
- Part of a five-hospital regional system including a dedicated children's hospital, serving a broad El Paso-area patient population
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in medical technology or a related science, or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology; equivalent military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489 is accepted; or qualification at the Medical Technologist level via satisfactory HHS examination score prior to 2/28/92 per 42 CFR 493.1491
- Minimum five years of experience as a medical technologist or clinical laboratory scientist in an acute care facility (required)
- Minimum five years of laboratory supervisory experience (preferred)
- Current certification from an approved certifying agency: ASCP, NCA, AMT, or equivalent
- Active state licensure as required by Texas law
- Must meet CLIA requirements for General Supervisor designation under high-complexity testing standards
