<p>The Hospitals of Providence – Sierra Campus in El Paso, Texas is recruiting a full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead (Scientist, Med Lab Lead) to serve as a working supervisor within its clinical laboratory. This is a rotating-shift, acute care position that combines hands-on bench work with direct oversight of daily lab operations, staff management, and accreditation compliance. <h3>Practice Highlights</h3> <ul> <li>Full-time, rotating-shift schedule within an acute care clinical laboratory</li> <li>Supervisory authority over daily departmental operations, including staff scheduling, personnel selection, performance management, and disciplinary recommendations</li> <li>Responsible for maintaining accreditation compliance under CAP, TJC, AABB, or equivalent accrediting body</li> <li>Reviews quality control data and patient results to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance</li> <li>Performs high-complexity laboratory testing consistent with CLIA regulations (42 CFR 493.1489 and 42 CFR 493.1491)</li> <li>Executes instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational upkeep of laboratory equipment</li> <li>Drives service level agreement adherence through implementation of operational efficiencies</li> <li>Reports directly to the laboratory director; completes additional duties as assigned</li> <li>Part of a five-hospital regional system including a dedicated children's hospital, serving a broad El Paso-area patient population</li> </ul>

<h3>Qualifications</h3> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in medical technology or a related science, or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology; equivalent military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489 is accepted; or qualification at the Medical Technologist level via satisfactory HHS examination score prior to 2/28/92 per 42 CFR 493.1491</li> <li>Minimum five years of experience as a medical technologist or clinical laboratory scientist in an acute care facility (required)</li> <li>Minimum five years of laboratory supervisory experience (preferred)</li> <li>Current certification from an approved certifying agency: ASCP, NCA, AMT, or equivalent</li> <li>Active state licensure as required by Texas law</li> <li>Must meet CLIA requirements for General Supervisor designation under high-complexity testing standards</li> </ul>
