Practice Highlights
- Primarily outpatient clinic setting with occasional inpatient rounding as needed — no overnight or on-call responsibilities
- Join an established team of three attending neurologists and one existing APP, providing a collaborative, well-supported practice environment
- Scope includes comprehensive history-taking, physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, and administering therapeutic procedures
- Prescriptive authority includes ordering medications, laboratory tests, and professional consultations
- Participates in patient review conferences, staffing discussions, and quality assurance activities including Utilization Review, Infection Control, and Safety Committee functions
- Provides consultative direction to nursing, laboratory, and clinic support staff
- Documentation maintained in an electronic medical record (EMR) system in accordance with facility policy
- Fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment serving the neurological care needs of the broader Rio Grande Valley region
Qualifications
- Master's-prepared Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner (MSN or equivalent) required
- Current NP licensure (RNP) in the state of Texas, or eligibility to obtain prior to start
- National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner in accordance with governing board requirements and facility Medical Staff Bylaws
- Active DEA registration with the state of Texas required
- Current CPR certification required
- Prior neuroscience or neurology experience is a plus; candidates without neurology-specific background are welcome to apply
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-based clinical environment with strong communication and patient care skills
