Practice Highlights

- Direct procedural support role: assists physicians with both invasive and noninvasive cardiovascular and vascular procedures and surgeries
- Operates full hemodynamic monitoring equipment including cardiac output measurement, AVO₂, and blood gas analysis; records and maintains all patient values per department protocol
- Performs patient positioning, prepping, and draping; sets up and scrubs for procedures maintaining strict aseptic technique
- Within scope of practice: IV placement with normal saline, and insertion of radial or brachial arterial lines under physician supervision with or without intradermal Lidocaine injection
- Continuous real-time communication with the physician regarding patient condition throughout each procedure
- Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities
- Responsible for post-procedure room cleanup, instrument handling, supply restocking, and support area maintenance — a fully integrated team member, not a task-limited role
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of experience in an acute care Cardiac Catheterization Lab or CVOR required
- Graduate of an accredited two-year cardiovascular technology training program, surgical technology program, or equivalent on-the-job training including a minimum three-month orientation
- ARRT certification required
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) credential preferred
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills in patient management and physician interaction
