St. Mary's Medical Center, a 420-bed Level I Trauma Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, is recruiting a full-time Medical Lab Scientist II (MLS) to join its acute care laboratory team. This is a days-shift position at one of Palm Beach County's most comprehensive hospital campuses — home to a state-designated Pediatric Trauma Referral Center, a certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, and a Level III NICU. Practice Highlights

  • Full-time days position performing automated and manual patient testing on blood, tissue, and body fluids
  • Operates and maintains laboratory instruments and equipment in accordance with approved policies and procedures
  • Responsible for accurate, timely reporting of lab results to directly support medical staff in patient care decisions
  • Monitors and maintains adequate inventory of chemicals, reagents, and supplies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology; equivalent military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489 also accepted; or qualification at the Medical Technologist level via satisfactory grade on an HHS examination prior to 2/28/92 per 42 CFR 493.1491
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a medical technologist in an acute care facility; or 1 year of acute care experience combined with a Master's degree
  • Active Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required
  • Demonstrated proficiency with both automated and manual laboratory testing methodologies
  • Strong communication skills for effective reporting and collaboration with clinical staff regarding lab-related issues
