This is a fully remote Physician Services Coder II position focused on Emergency Department and Emergency Medicine coding, based out of Frisco, TX. The role sits within a centralized physician coding operation and is responsible for the full cycle of professional-fee code assignment — ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers — with a specialty emphasis on ED/EM, evaluation and management, and radiology. Coders at the Level II tier are expected to work independently, resolve pre-bill edits and payer denials, and sustain a 95.5% or higher accuracy rate through monthly internal audits. Practice Highlights

- Apply CCI (Correct Coding Initiative), LCD (Local Coverage Determinations), NCD (National Coverage Determinations), and client-specific coding guidelines
- Productivity and accuracy tracked via monthly internal audits; required accuracy threshold is 95.5%
- Communicate coding issues and findings to internal team members and internal or external clients in one-on-one and small-group settings
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel expected for documentation and reporting tasks
Qualifications
- Active CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based), or equivalent credential required
- Minimum 3–5 years of physician services coding experience
- Demonstrated expertise in multi-specialty Evaluation and Management coding; ED/EM coding experience strongly aligned with this role
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and coding rules and regulations
- Knowledge of third-party reimbursement regulations, billing practices, CCI, LCD, and NCD guidelines
- Vocational or technical education beyond high school
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness; strong attention to detail and problem-resolution skills
