This fully remote Physician Services Coder II position, based out of Frisco, TX, supports emergency department and evaluation and management coding for a large, multi-facility health system. Practice Highlights

- Coding scope at Level II includes emergency department (ED/EM) coding, multi-specialty evaluation and management coding, and radiology coding
- Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes with appropriate modifiers directly from medical record documentation
- Review and resolve pre-bill coding edits prior to claim submission to ensure clean claim rates
- Identify, analyze, and resolve coding-related denials from third-party payers
- Apply CCI (Correct Coding Initiative), LCD (Local Coverage Determinations), NCD (National Coverage Determinations), and client-specific coding guidelines
- Accuracy standard: must meet or exceed 95.5% accuracy rate as measured by monthly internal audits
- Productivity standards are tracked and must be met or exceeded on an ongoing basis
- Assignments must be completed before monthly closing dates; deadline adherence is a core performance expectation
- Collaborative role — expected to communicate coding issues clearly to internal team members and internal/external clients in one-on-one and small group settings
Qualifications
- Vocational or technical education beyond high school in a health information, coding, or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of professional coding experience required
- Active CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based), or equivalent certification required; multi-specialty E&M coding competency expected
- Demonstrated working knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and coding rules and regulations
- Solid understanding of third-party reimbursement regulations, billing practices, CCI edits, LCDs, and NCDs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required
- Strong attention to detail with demonstrated ability to identify and resolve documentation and coding discrepancies
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy standards
