Practice Highlights

  • Permanent shift schedule: Thursday 7p–7:30a, Saturday 7a–7:30p, and Sunday 7p–7:30a — three 12.5-hour shifts per week with a consistent rotation

  • Full-cycle registration responsibilities: patient greeting, demographic data collection, pre-admission and admission processing, scheduling, reception, and discharge functions
  • Financial clearance duties: insurance verification, benefits and eligibility confirmation, authorization procurement for scheduled and unscheduled services, and inpatient payor notification
  • Patient liability collection before, during, and after the date of service using compliant negotiation techniques; hospital cash reconciliation and secured payment entry
  • Medical necessity verification in accordance with CMS requirements
  • Legal and compliance documentation: Advance Directives, Conditions of Service, Consent for Treatment, Important Message from Medicare, and EMTALA forms
  • Scanning and filing of Protected Health Information; scheduling of diagnostic procedures with patient instruction
  • Post-discharge care coordination support as needed
  • Fast-paced hospital administration environment with potential exposure to high patient volumes and acute clinical settings

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred
  • 0–1 year of customer service experience required
  • 0–1 year of administrative experience in a medical facility, health insurance environment, or related field preferred
  • Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute
  • Proficiency with PC, CRT terminal, and printer operation
  • Ability to interpret physician orders, medical terminology, and insurance cards accurately
  • Working knowledge of third-party payor requirements and healthcare compliance standards preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with internal clinical staff and external clients
  • Physical ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods, stand and walk frequently, lift or carry items up to 25 lbs occasionally, and assist patients with wheelchair mobility as needed
  • Availability to work hours and days as required based on departmental and system demands
  • Must meet all required pre-employment vaccination and health screening requirements, including COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations as applicable and permitted by law
