Practice Highlights

- Assign ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes and modifiers directly from medical record documentation
- Review and resolve pre-bill coding edits prior to claim submission
- Review and resolve coding denials from third-party payers
- Apply CCI (Correct Coding Initiative), LCD (Local Coverage Determinations), NCD (National Coverage Determinations), and client-specific coding guidelines
- Productivity and accuracy tracked via monthly internal audits — accuracy standard set at 95.5% or above
- Assignments must be completed before monthly closing dates; deadline-driven workflow
- Collaborative team environment with expectation to present coding issues to internal teams and internal/external clients in one-on-one or small group settings
- Multiple coding resources available to support code assignment decisions
Qualifications
- Vocational or technical education beyond high school required
- Minimum 3–5 years of physician services coding experience
- Active CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based), or equivalent certification required; multi-specialty E&M coding competency expected
- Demonstrated working knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and coding rules and regulations
- Working knowledge of CCI, LCD, NCD, and other applicable coding rules and third-party reimbursement regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness; strong attention to detail and problem-resolution skills
