Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- No prior experience required — new graduates are welcome; two years of acute care experience in med/surg, telemetry, or ICU is preferred
- Active Texas State Registered Nurse license required at time of hire
- Active healthcare provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required on hire (American Red Cross or AHA); AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire
- AHA ACLS required within 60 days of hire or transfer for nurses placed in adult critical care, telemetry, or interim critical care units; should be completed before the end of the orientation period
- AHA PALS required within 60 days of hire or transfer for nurses placed in the Pediatric ICU; should be completed before the end of the orientation period
- AHA NRP required within 60 days of hire or transfer for nurses placed in the NICU
- S.T.A.B.L.E. certification required for NICU / Level 2 Nursery placement — proof of prior completion accepted, or must be obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer (renewal not required)
