This fully remote, contract Patient Account Representative role is based out of Frisco, TX and sits within a national healthcare revenue cycle operation serving more than 135 local regions across the country. The position owns the full life of a patient account — from claim submission through insurance collections and dispute resolution — across Commercial, Managed Care, Medicare, and Medicaid lines. Practice Highlights

- Manages end-to-end patient account resolution — from claim submission and remittance review through collections, disputes, and final payment
- Works accounts across Commercial, Managed Care, Medicare, and Medicaid payers, including government and non-government entities
- Conducts follow-up via phone, email, and online payer portals; updates plan IDs, demographic and insurance data, and documents all account activity in detail
- Reviews contracts to identify billing and coding issues; initiates re-bills, secondary billing, or corrected claims as appropriate
- Opens and substantiates dispute records for accounts requiring escalated research and continued collection effort
- Identifies and escalates payer trends, payment delays, and aged account issues to supervisory staff to prevent A/R aging
- Operates within proprietary systems including ACE, VI Web, IMaCS, and OnDemand, alongside standard payer websites and Microsoft Office
- Maintains daily productivity and quality standards as set by department leadership; provides coverage support for absent or backlogged team members
- Participates in meetings, training seminars, and in-services to support ongoing professional development
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in business administration or accounting preferred
- 1–4 years of medical claims and/or hospital collections experience
- Thorough understanding of the full revenue cycle: patient access (authorization, admissions) through Patient Financial Services (billing, appeals, collections)
- Working knowledge of Commercial, Managed Care, Medicare, and Medicaid collections; intermediate knowledge of Managed Care contracts, contract language, and federal/state government payer requirements
- Familiarity with HMO, PPO, IPA, and Capitation payer structures; intermediate understanding of EOB, UB-04 hospital billing forms, and HCFA-1500 forms
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); minimum typing speed of 45 wpm
- Ability to learn and navigate hospital systems — ACE, VI Web, IMaCS, OnDemand — quickly and fluently
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize and follow through on assigned tasks with minimal supervision
