About the Community

Birmingham is in the middle of a genuine civic and culinary renaissance — home to UAB Medicine, a top-20 NIH-funded academic medical center, and a cost of living well below the national average, with no local income tax surcharge and a modest state rate. The practice sits in the Mountain Brook corridor, one of the most coveted addresses in the Southeast: a tree-lined community of approximately 21,000 residents with top-ranked public schools (multiple National Blue Ribbon honorees), three walkable village centers, and a dining scene that earned eleven Michelin recognitions in 2025 and produced a New York Times top-50 restaurant in Bayonet. Outdoor recreation is equally compelling — Oak Mountain State Park (nearly 10,000 acres, 100-plus miles of trails) is 25 minutes south, Red Mountain Park is 15 minutes from your door, and the biodiverse Cahaba River winds just minutes away. Physicians who come to Birmingham consistently stay — the combination of serious career opportunity, a 10-minute commute, and a community built for families is genuinely rare.
