About the Community

Detroit sits at the center of one of the Midwest's most culturally rich and economically resurgent metropolitan regions, offering world-class museums, a thriving restaurant and arts scene, and major professional sports franchises. The broader metro area encompasses diverse communities — from urban neighborhoods to suburban enclaves with highly rated school districts — at a cost of living well below comparable academic medical markets on the coasts. Proximity to Lake St. Clair, the Detroit River, and the Upper Peninsula makes Michigan an appealing long-term home for physicians who value both urban amenities and outdoor recreation.
